God knows Best…
I distinctly remember praying wholeheartedly for a desire I imagined would be best. When it didn’t happen, I would bury the disappointment and believe the enemy’s lie—that I was rejected. In retrospect, the disappointment and the grief accompanying it did me a far greater good than had I received what I desperately wanted.
God consistently brings these instances to my mind to remind me that it is always best to wait on Him, but more importantly, trust Him as we wait. Every opportunity, relationship, and experience God brought into my life has been good. I know this because they have borne fruit in me, mainly the fruit of peace. On the contrary, everything I went out and made happen for myself worked for a season, but eventually came to nothing.
I said all that to say this: Don’t allow your disappointment to shape your hope in God. If He has said no, trust Him. If He has said Wait, trust Him. If He has been silent, trust Him. God doesn’t withhold good from us. He is good, and He does Good. But you’ve got to stick it out in Faith to see the end.
You may have buried disappointment deep within the recesses of your heart to the point where your thoughts are always divided, wondering why you don’t see prayers answered the way you have prayed. Or, you may be dealing with a depth of rejection that hinders and has skewed your view of God. I want you to be encouraged to know that the Lord sees and that if He isn’t moving, it’s for a purpose. God will never reject you; He loves you. But love doesn’t always promise your outcome, but it does commit to God’s plan for your life.
I pray that this encourages you to hang on longer. Life is filled with the unexpected, and we’ve all had our share of grief, heartache, joy, and unanswered questions. All of this can work for your eternal good in the hands of a sovereign God. The Lord won’t let you down. Trust Him.
'For the LORD God is a sun and shield: The LORD will give grace and glory: No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. 'Psalm 84:11
'but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.'Isaiah 40:31
